Description
In the main menu, the "Play Online" button is greyed out with a loading circle that never stops spinning, and you cannot play online.
Solution
A number of things could be causing this issue. Check these common reasons why you cannot play online:
Servers are down: Sometimes the game servers are down for maintenance or there is a known problem. Check our Twitter or #announcements in the UCH Discord.
[PC] Restart Steam: Close your game, log out of Steam, and close your Steam for 5 minutes. Then restart Steam, log back in, and try to play online again.
[PC] Launch through Steam: If you own the game on Steam, make sure you're launching the game directly through Steam. Launching via a shortcut can sometimes cause the game to fail to connect to our servers.
Connected to internet: Make sure your computer or console is connected to the internet.
Game Version: Make sure you're playing on the must recent update/version of the game. (See the top left corner of your game.) Try updating your game. If on Steam, try verifying the integrity of your files.
Country restrictions: In some parts of the world, including (but not limited to) Russia, China, and Turkey, our game servers are affected by governmental or Internet Service Provider (ISP) bans on certain Amazon servers. If you think you could be in an affected region, we suggest that you try using a VPN to circumvent the issue.
VPNs: If you're using a VPN, make sure to launch your VPN before you start playing Ultimate Chicken Horse.
Internet router's NAT type: Your router's NAT type could be preventing your machine from connecting to our online servers. This is especially common on consoles. You can check out this article on NAT types and how to enable the Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) type, or this detailed troubleshooting guide for Xbox.
Offline mode: On console, make sure your user profile has an active online subscription (e.g. Xbox Live, PlayStation Plus, Nintendo Switch Online). On Steam, make sure you're not in Offline mode.
Windows Internet Options: Sometimes your Windows Internet options can prevent the game from connecting to its servers.
- Open the Start Menu, and launch the Control Panel
- Open Internet Options and go to the Security tab
- Click on Reset all zones to default level
- Click on Apply, then OK
- You might need to restart your computer to apply the change
If none of the above helps, please send us a support ticket with your output log if you are playing on a computer! (Output logs will help us immensely with resolving online issues.)
