Description
Your controller works with other games, but isn't working for Ultimate Chicken Horse.
Solution
Many people have many different controllers, and we use a plugin called InControl to try to accommodate as many controllers as possible. Unfortunately, some controllers still don't work natively with our game.
However, there are some things you can do to make a lot of controllers work with Ultimate Chicken Horse.
Sometimes a controller will work better if it is connected to your computer with a wire instead of Bluetooth.
If you are using a third party controller (i.e. not an original Xbox, PS, or Switch controller), you can try using a program to emulate a standard controller in the game, for example x360ce or 360Controller. This should work with a huge number of controllers and allow you to customize controller inputs to fit your needs.
PlayStation 4 Controllers (DualShock)
Ultimate Chicken Horse does not support bluetooth-connected PS4 DualShock controllers. The game requires wired connections to these controllers.
MacOS
We've had reports that players cannot use their controller to play when they're playing on MacOS. We are working on resolving this issue.
Steam
If the controller works in Steam Big Picture mode, but not in Ultimate Chicken Horse, you should try changing the Steam controller support settings.
- In Steam, open Settings
- Go to Controller, then General Controller Settings
- You should see your controller listed as Detected. Depending on the type of controller, toggle the corresponding Configuration Support box above. (If the box isn't checked, check it; if it is, uncheck it)
- Launch Ultimate Chicken Horse and see if the controller works now.
Alternatively, you should try launching the game while you're not in Big Picture Mode.
