When you try to play online:

  • You never see online lobbies when you click "Find Public Games". 
  • Nobody ever joins your lobby when you host one. 
  • (PlayStation) When people try to join your lobby, they get the "Game in Progress" message. 


Solution


PlayStation lobby bug

As of 2023 August, we've had reports of a lobby PlayStation bug where people never join your online lobby. This always happens after playing 1 match of Ultimate Chicken Horse (either as a host or playing in someone else's lobby.) When people try to join you, they get the "Game in Progress" error message. 

The temporary fix is to restart your game and then host a new lobby again. 


Old version of game

You may be playing on an older version of the game.  You can check the version number of your game in the top left corner of your game, as seen below.  

The current version number in this screenshot is 1.10.06. 



If for some reason the game isn't updating automatically, you should force the game to update.


Steam

  1. Right click the game in your Library and select Properties
  2. In the Local Files tab, click Verify Integrity of Game Files


Xbox One / Xbox Series X|S

  1. Press the Xbox Nexus button on your Xbox One controller to open the guide
  2. Press RB
  3. Press down on the D-pad once or on your main thumbstick and select 'My Games and Apps'
  4. Select See All
  5. Select Updates

You should also ensure that game updates are being downloaded automatically.

  1. Press the Xbox Nexus button to open the guide
  2. Select Settings > All settings
  3. Select System > Updates
  4. Under Games & apps, select Keep my games & apps up to date if it isn't already


PlayStation 4 / PlayStation 5

  1. From the game library, hover over the game you want to update.
  2. Press the Options button on your controller. It should open the side menu.
  3. Select "Check for Update."

You should also ensure that game updates are being downloaded automatically.

  1. On the PS4 Home page, go to Settings
  2. Select System > Automatic Downloads
  3. Make sure that there is a check mark next to Application Update Files


Nintendo Switch

  1. In your game library, select Ultimate Chicken Horse
  2. Press + to show the Options
  3. In Software Update, select Via the Internet

You should also ensure that game updates are being downloaded automatically.

  1. In the Home menu, go to System Settings
  2. Scroll down to the System tab
  3. Scroll down to Auto-Update Software and make sure it is On


If your game is still not updating, make sure that Steam / your console has all the latest system updates.
