Description
When you play Ultimate Chicken Horse, the game looks like it has a low framerate, or like it's stuttering.
Solution
Graphical issues like these can be caused by a number of things.
- Make sure that your computer is powerful enough to run the game properly.
- Make sure that all of your drivers are up to date.
- Check your graphics card dashboard for performance. If you see the framerate get extremely high (like 300 FPS), change the settings to put a lower framerate limit for the game, like 60 FPS.
Below are some more causes and fixes to investigate.
Monitor Hz settings
Ultimate Chicken Horse sometimes stutters for players when they have a computer monitor on the 75Hz or 144Hz setting. If possible, we recommend changing your monitor setting to 60Hz which should solve the stuttering issue.
G-Sync
This issue can happen on monitors that use G-Sync technology. You can fix the stutter by running the game in exclusive fullscreen mode.
Steam
- Right click on Ultimate Chicken Horse in your Steam Library
- Go to Properties
- Click "Set Launch Options"
- Write "-window-mode exclusive" into the Launch Options (without the quotes) and press OK
- Try launching the game again
OpenGL / Vulkan
Running the game in OpenGL or Vulkan mode could fix the stuttering and make the game run smoother on your machine.
Steam
- Right click on Ultimate Chicken Horse in your Steam Library
- Go to Properties
- Click "Set Launch Options"
- Write "-force-opengl" OR "-force-vulkan" into the Launch Options (without the quotes) and press OK
- Try launching the game again
