How to make a custom level
To make a custom level, you need to change the game mode to Free Play by jumping on the big red button in the Treehouse, or by opening the Menu and clicking on the Game mode arrows.
Once you're in Free Play mode, go to the underground area of the Treehouse and move to the left to the "Blank Level" section. This is where you can build your own level.
How to save your custom level
When you're happy with your level, make sure you save it!
- Open the Menu and click "Save and Share Level."
- Choose to save it Online or Locally.
- Online: This publishes your level to our online level browser and gives it a unique level code. If you make the privacy Public, the level will be visible to other players via the online level browser. If you choose the privacy Unlisted, it will be available online but other people will only be able to play if they know the code.
- Locally: This saves the level to your account only, no one else will have access to it. You can find it by going to the LevelNET computer in the underground well, clicking the drop-down menu and selecting the "My Levels" tab.
- Online: This publishes your level to our online level browser and gives it a unique level code. If you make the privacy Public, the level will be visible to other players via the online level browser. If you choose the privacy Unlisted, it will be available online but other people will only be able to play if they know the code.
- Make sure you press Publish (when saving online) or Save a Local Copy (when saving locally) to CONFIRM you've saved your level!
- You can view your levels in the Treehouse by going to the underground LevelNET computer, clicking the drop-down menu, and selecting "My Levels".
Tools in the custom level builder
When building levels in Free Play, you will have access to special features that you wouldn't see in Party Mode. For example:
In the Inventory:
- Indestructible Parts that cannot be destroyed by bombs
- Level Customization options: Music, Ambiance, and Backgrounds
In the game's Menu:
- Modifiers: These are set my opening the Menu, and those can be saved with the level.
How to change the privacy of your custom level
If you want to change a published level to Unlisted:
- Go to the underground LevelNET computer, select the drop-down menu, and select "My Levels"
- On the level, look at the right side and click on the text "Published:x days ago"
- Click on the "UNPUBLISH" button. This will change its privacy to Unlisted.
If you want to publish your Unlisted level:
- Go to the underground LevelNET computer, select the drop-down menu, and select "My Levels"
- On the level, look at the right side and click on the text "Unpublished"
- Click on the "PUBLISH" button and choose if it will be Party or Challenge.
This will change its privacy to Published and it will be visible to all other players in the LevelNET browser.
If you want to change your level's type to Party/Challenge:
- Go to the underground LevelNET computer, select the drop-down menu, and select "My Levels"
- On the level, look at the right side and click on the text "Published:x days ago"
- Unpublish the level. Then go back to the previous screen and press on "Unlisted".
- Republish the level and this is where you'll select if the level should be Challenge or Party.
